Journey holds a BA in Liberal Studies with a minor in Psychology and is currently pursuing an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Wake Forest University. Journey is committed to providing the utmost care to her clients through a holistic approach. She believes that to serve her clients best, whether that be individuals, couples, or families, every facet of their existence must be considered to ensure they can thrive across all areas of their lives. Journey has a history working with those who have depression and anxiety disorders, as well as those with gender and sexuality issues, and is eager to expand her expertise going forward to widen her clientele.
As a Black woman and a member of the LGBTQ+ community, Journey knows firsthand the importance of having culturally competent care, and she continuously works to learn how to better serve members of marginalized groups. She understands the cruciality of developing a strong client-counselor relationship and works to build it through empathy, unconditional positive regard, and genuineness. After fostering a good relationship, her goal is to help guide clients through their current experiences and work together to find solutions and a path that best serves them. Through utilizing evidence-based practices, she is confident that she can help develop a plan that helps clients reach a self-actualized version of themselves.
